Integral Wellness Plan – Kaplan University – HW499

Contrary to many popular beliefs there is so much more to wellness than either the presence of good physical health or the absence of disease. Those two considerations focus solely on the physiology of the body, leaving us unbalanced – much like the metaphorical stool missing its other two legs. Wellness is the marriage of balance in body, mind, and spirit. Oh, we can function relatively well enough relying on one leg for a time, but the culmination of balance in wellness only comes when we incorporate each aspect in our integral wellness design. From meditation to energy work, from seeing a counselor to praying and calling upon the Creator of all things the mind and the spirit can be healed of deficiencies, hindrances, and misconceptions that keep us unwell, unbalanced, un-whole no matter how well we eat, how well we sleep, and how much we exercise. The plan included is an example of an in-depth, personalized model for integral wellness. It addresses pivotal ways to incorporate balance in both spiritual and psychological wellness. It is the model of a personal program that can be initiated and reviewed and revised as desired, one that will be a great addition to the designing of personal wellness programs I will be using in my professional endeavors.

In an age in which stress is the norm and national healthcare has been debated endlessly, many are seeking resources to assist with health issues and in place of others. Multivitamin Supplement Presentation – Kaplan University – HW499

In this day and age, far too many people subsist on an unhealthy diet of fast foods and junk foods, yet pop a multivitamin as if it will balance out all of the ills. Sadly, so few consider the implications of that particular morning habit. Are multivitamins one size fits all? Is it worth the financial investment to take pricey, designer mega multivitamins or will generics do just fine? Are we placing ourselves in danger by not giving the supplement facts more than a cursory glance? Should we be taking to our healthcare providers about the supplement we have chosen? This presentation provides the opening dialogue for understanding multivitamin supplements from a wide perspective. By providing the questions for consideration, it empowers the audience to leave the passive approach in the rear-view mirror. This presentation will be appropriate within any lay setting of adults who ascribe to a wide variety of health beliefs because of the varying types of multivitamin supplements available.

Obesity Exercise & Fitness Plan – Kaplan University – EF310

The following plan  was designed to assess and address the health and wellness needs of a fictitious client presenting with an obese and hypertensive state. The assessment tools utilized included the Health Status Questionnaire, the PAR-Q Form, and the President’s Physical Fitness Test  seeking to identify her current level of physical fitness, her readiness to begin working on investing in her health, her current perceptions on approaching health and wellness from a holistic perspective, and her perceived levels of external support structures in her life. The end result of the process was to provide appropriate recommendations to address improvement of her health considerations  nutritionally, physically, mental, and mentally in assisting her in setting course to achieve needed health improvements in a realistic manner.

This client is of the age demographic in which I seek to work most directly. The tools utilized in this project are all appropriate for use in a wellness practice setting in assessing needs, abilities, capabilities, nutritional perceptions, readiness for change, and physical considerations  to begin formulating individualized programs addressing to assist clients in meeting wellness objectives.  The utilization of proven assessment tools insures completeness in each and every encounter, leaving no critical component of the client information uncollected. This same approach would be appropriate with any adult age group within which I would potentially serve outside the intended demographic.
